Matt
Abts is a world-renowned percussionist who,
along with Allman Brothers Band guitarist Warren
Haynes, founded Gov't. Mule in 1994. He also
leads his own band, POA, during the periods
Haynes is busy with the Allmans.
Don "D.C." Culp
is well-known throughout the Northeast as a
percussionist performing regularly with Gary
Guitar & The Grinders, John Cafferty & The
Beaver Brown Band, the Steve Broderick Band and
his own group, Longshot Voodoo. He is also a
music educator providing private studies on
drums and hand percussion and heads up the music
programs at private special education centers in
Rhode Island and Connecticut. He is the
Committee Chair for the Tune In & Tune Up health
initiative.
The Tune In &
Tune Up Musicians Health Awareness Program is an
initiative of the Rhode Island Music Hall of
Fame which directs Rhode Island musicians
seeking basic and preventative care to
affordable health care programs. TI&TU members
are also eligible for discounts at area health
and wellness retail locations and will get free
admission to a planned series of health-related
forums geared to musicians.
The drum jam is
sponsored by Empire Guitars, Vater Percussion
and Everyone's Drumming Company.
